Preteaching:
age 5, 6: How do turtles swim? Fast, fast, fast.
How do they crawl? Slowly, slowly, slowly.

age 7,8: Where do turtles live? In the sea and on land.
Why do they go on land? To lay eggs.

age 9,10: What do turtles eat? Jelly fish and crabs when they are little. When they grow big they eat only sea weed.
How long can a turtle hold breath underwater? Up to an hour!

Materials: Foam, plastic bottle bottoms, marbles, feltips for decoration

Prepare templates for children to trace the shape.

Trace the turtle shape.

Cut out the turtle shape.

Press the plastic bottle bottom to make a circle on the foam. With a pen or a stick press a point in the middle of the circle.

Put some glue in the circle. Put a marble in the point in the middle. Stick the plastic bottle bottome on the circle.

Draw eyes and claws with feltips.
Now you have a turtle with an egg inside.
