Outings

You saw pictures from Avala and Fruska Gora. You heard it was fun.

So you ask: When can I go?

On Sunday 14 th May.

Where are we going? To the mountain of Kosmaj .

The trip is meant for Science club students but we'll welcome any Robertson school student. Please remember to register beforehand, pack your lunch and compass and don't forget rule number one: Only English is spoken on all Robertson outings. This time students will be accompanied by Dragana, Branka and Mr Gibbs.

  Summer courses abroad

Many times before we've heard the same question: Why don't you take your students to England ?

This year we are – to Bristol . The group will be accompanied by Bojana, the head teacher of Robertson School .

It is still not too late to join the group. For more information ask Bojana.

Jumble Sale

There's always someone who says, I wish I had known. So, here it is: the last Robertson Jumble Sale this school year will be on Saturday June 10 th , from 12 o'clock going for an hour and a half. Bring old books, toys, clothes, jewellery, CDs, posters, anything you can part with and think that somebody may like. Bring you parents, little

brothers and sisters, or big brothers and sisters, friends or neighbours – maybe you can sell them or swap them and go back home with a brand new family.

Don't say, you didn't know.

And make sure you bring some cookies. They sell like hot cakes!

Reports

You want us to tell you how well you've done this year. We've already started preparing your reports. We'll put in them how much you've progressed, how much you've worked, how well you've cooperated with other students from your group and how regular you've been. The end-of-the-year reports can be picked up by your parents on June 19 th , 20 th and 21 st . If you are leaving on holiday before these dates your report will be waiting for you in September.

The Students of the Week

Congratulations to the students of the week to date. They are:

1st week 2nd week

Sofija Vuckovic Vanja Sredojevic

Sofija Milosevic Relja Stepanovic

Ana Pastor Jovana Djurovic

3rd week

Sara Dmitirjevic

Ljuba Vukadinovic

Daki Jovanovic

You may wonder how we chose them? Is it that they are best at English? No, although all of them speak pretty good English and have worked hard to improve it. So what else?

In Robertson school we also want to develop your critical skills. This year we concentrated on 3Cs:

  • Cooperation
  • Creative thinking
  • Communication

All of these students showed great readiness to use and develop these skills. You are still not sure what all this means? Ask your teacher for further explanations.

Recommendations

I recommend the book “Princess In the Spotlight” by Megg Cabbot. Margareta Lakusic recommended the first part of the book “Princess Diary”. This book is about Princess Mia and her friend and an interview on an international TV station. In this interview she made her friend Lilly angry. How she survived, read in this book.

More about Music Club

We asked you what other clubs you would like to have. The most common answer was Music club. And now you have it - every Saturday from 8.30 to 9.30.

Up to now there have three sessions of Music club: funk, jazz and rock'n'roll.

You don't have to register or pay, just come and join the fun.

Arts and Crafts

This year due to unexpectedly high interest in arts and crafts sessions Dragana and Branka held double group each Saturday. All the children showed fantastic creativity and worked hard at cooperation and team work. Well done everybody!

Everybody made their own fairy tale house

The Robertson Theatre has grown enormously during this school year. We have produced three shows which you will be able to see again next year. Thank you all who helped in all sorts of ways and hope to see you again in September.

More about Science Club and Mr Gibbs

Although we didn't ask you in the questionnaire many of you told us how much you enjoyed classes with Mr Gibbs. His two rounds of science club were certainly some of the highlights of this school year. We hope to see him in our school next year again.

Ask you editor

You asked:

1.How often will the Robertson Newsletter come out?

- Hopefully, every month next school year. It depends on you. Can you help?

Contact the editor. Wrote to this e-mail address: brankarobertson@eunet.yu

2. Can the book recommended by Margareta Lakusic be found in the school library?

- No, but you can contact Margareta through your teacher and try to borrow the book from her. The book Philip Robertson recommended last year Knjiga o zvezdama (in Serbian) can now be borrowed from the Robertson School Library.

3. Where can we buy the “Crown” magazine?

The place is called English Book and the address in Knez Mihajlova, Robna Kuca Mitic II sprat. Ask for Andjela, who is very kind and helpful.
